Zipper-tag (translated from the Dutch)

My special thanks go out to Chayanne who originally created the zipper. As no tutorial existed, Petite Talie wrote a zipper-tag tutorial in French. In 2006 she gave me permission to rewrite the zipper tutorial in Dutch and English. Please note that my zipper tutorial is completely different from Petite Talie's tut, which by the way does not seem to exist anymore.

 

You will need:

• Paint Shop Pro
  (This tutorial was written using PSP 9, but can be done in other versions)
• Animation Shop
• Zipper-animation

 

Start Paint Shop Pro.

• Open a new (transparent) image of 345 x 43 pixels.
• Flood fill with a colour, a gradient or a pattern.
• Layers > New raster layer.
• Activate the text tool and type your text.
• Move the text into place (as shown). If there is room, you can also add a tube.



• If you used layers, merge them (Layers > Merge > Merge visible).
• Edit/copy the image.

Animation

(In the newer versions of Paint Shop Pro Animation Shop is no longer included. Those who do not have Animation Shop, can download an English version here).

• In PSP: File > Jasc Software Products > Launch Animation Shop
  or click on this icon
• In Animation Shop right click and paste as a new animation.
• You will see 1 frame (with text). Duplicate this frame up to a total of 46 frames.
  If you have created too many frames, select the frames you do not want and hit the Delete key.
• In Animation Shop open the zipper-animation (zipper-animation.gif). It consists of 46 frames.
• You will see 2 animations now;

  

  highlight all the frames in both animations (keys Ctrl-A).
  In both animations the slider should be all the way to left!



• Use your mouse to drag the first frame of the zipper-animation to the first frame of the text-animation.

  

• If you do not succeed the first time, do not despair and try again.
  Click on the undo-icon or go to Edit > Undo to get the zipper-animation back.
• Click on this icon or go to View > Animation and see your tag in motion.
• Save as a GIF-file and you are finished.
